Module summary

Modern biological experiments produce large data sets involving information related to DNA. This module gives the basic biological background before looking at data on evolution, genetics and gene expression, along with methods to analyse them.

Objectives

To introduce statistical methods pertinent to the analysis of scientific data relating to DNA.

Learning outcomes
To develop a basic understanding of:
1. Molecular biology;
2. Analysis of evolutionary trees;
3. Statistical genetics;
4. Statistical modelling of microarrays.
