Module summary
This module has been developed for the Enterprise & Innovation Discovery Theme. The module provides students from any academic background with knowledge and skills needed to generate, communicate and evaluate creative and innovative solutions to externally set challenges. Students will learn about theories and practical approaches to creative and innovative thinking and how to communicate visually using sketches. The module includes drawing as communication rather than art and students do not need to be able to draw to succeed in the module. The final assessment will be through a full-day Creativity & Innovation Event (probably scheduled for a Saturday towards the end of the module), where students will work in teams to apply learning from the module to address a societal challenge that will be introduced by problem owners or their representatives.Objectives
On completion of this module students should be able to:1) outline key characteristics of theories for creative and innovative practice in a variety of problem solving contexts;
2) use these theories to analyse problems and develop solutions;
3) communicate solution ideas using sketches and other means of visual communication;
4) use systematic approaches to evaluate results of creative and innovative processes.
5) reflect on their personal skills and attributes in these areas and define strategies for their personal development;
On completion of this module, students should be able to ...
