This module is open only to first year students admitted to the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics program.

This module is not approved as a discovery module

Objectives

This class develops basic skills in philosophy through engagement with classic philosophical texts.

Learning outcomes
Familiarity with classic philosophical texts, mostly from the early modern and Enlightenment period. Critical reading skills. Argument reconstruction skills. Argument criticism skills. Ability to charitably interpret a text. Basic writing for philosophy.
