Objectives
By the end of the module, it is expected that participants will be better able to:1. design modules, and student guides to modules, in their own subject
2. describe and compare different approaches to module and programme design
3. describe and discuss underlying perspectives to module and programme design and evaluation
4. identify and suggest remedies to common problems in module and programme design and programme management
5. describe and discriminate different approaches to module and programme evaluation
6. demonstrate critical awareness of issues and recent trends in quality management and enhancement procedures in higher education
7. evaluate modules and programmes in accordance with University protocols
8. enhance their knowledge and understanding of higher education through awareness of and ability to evaluate the educational literature related to course design (both generic and subject-specific)
9. appraise and critically reflect upon their own approaches to managing and evaluating teaching
10. analyse their own professional development needs and formulate an action plan

- student, peer and other sources of module and programme evaluation
- qualitative and quantitative methods of evaluating teaching, modules and programmes
- reviewing modules and programmes and their documentation
- University of Leeds quality assurance mechanisms in learning & teaching
- implementing curriculum change
- national quality assurance and enhancement initiatives and issues: the quality assurance agency (QAA) and others
