Module summary

The module will provide the opportunity to investigate the evidence in the literature related to an issue they have identified in their area of clinical practice Students will identify an issue within their own area of practice and will review current evidence from the literature in order to make recommendations for improving practice

Objectives

Students consider a wide range of evidence from the literature related to an issue they have identified in their workplace in order to make recommendations that will improve clinical practice.
If the student wishes to also undertake either the Diagnostic Imaging Dissertation and/or the Diagnostic Imaging Clinical Project module(s) the topic chosen for each module must have a completely different emphasis and be related to a different issue in clinical practice. All projects must be agreed with the module leader prior to commencement.

Learning outcomes
-Demonstrate an ability to identify and critically appraise evidence from current literature related to their area of practice
-Demonstrate synthesis of complex and contradictory evidence
-Demonstrate an ability to make informed judgements on evidence in an unbiased manner
-Formulate recommendations for practice

Skills outcomes
On completion of this module students will be able to:-
-Undertake a review of evidence related to their area of practice
-Make recommendations for practice based on their findings


Syllabus

-The module gives students the opportunity to investigate and review evidence related to a specific area of clinical practice.
-It relates to an area of clinical practice chosen by the student and agreed with the module leader
-Learning arises from undertaking an in-depth review of the evidence in the literature and is autonomously managed by the student.
-Students take responsibility for carrying out the evidence review and critically evaluating it in order to influence clinical practice
