Objectives
The purpose of the module is for the students to undertake a practical and/or research based group project on an aviation topic.Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students will be able to:
- Involve and operate effectively in individual and team assignments with the emphasis on further development of skills for communication and planning work effectively.
- Work in an active learning environment and acquire the skills of conceptualising, problem solving, and comprehending engineering problems in aviation technology and related areas.
- Apply logical reasoning based on a firm knowledge of engineering science and technology gained in earlier years.
- Effectively communicate the outcomes of a major project undertaking in both written and verbal form.
Syllabus
A range of aviation and aerospace projects will be on offer encompassing topics on aviation materials, simulator and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling, security and others. Students will work in groups of two to five, depending on the project.
Students will present individual written reports on their own work including an interim report at the start of the project detailing the planning, execution, deliverables and safety aspects of the project in agreement with the project supervisor(s). The work will also be presented orally at the end of the second semester.
