Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to:- design simple road locations and layouts;
- apply, and understand the limitations of, current junction design procedures;
- appreciate the specific requirements of pedestrians, cyclists and public transport in road design and traffic management;
- understand the problems of managing traffic in networks;
- and be familiar with models available for network design and demand prediction.

- Integrated Transport Policy
- Design for public transport
- Design for pedestrians and cyclists
- Road location
- Road hierarchy
- Geometric design
- Junction design, including: priority, roundabouts, signalised roundabouts, isolated signals
- Urban Traffic Management and Control, Introduction to modelling, network analysis
