Objectives
1. Students will understand the context of the project delivery environment; bringing together what they have learnt elsewhere in the programme with the implications of forms of project governance, the articulation of project requirements and choosing an execution and procurement strategy;2. Students will be familiar with the techniques of stakeholder relationship management and will have experience of using these to facilitate project delivery;
3. Students will be aware of socio-technical risk and opportunity (such as goals, vision, values and work organisation and practices) and the impact that these have on organisational design and development for successful project delivery.
4. To provide students with a holistic and integrative viewpoint of project management bringing together the learning from other modules within the programme.
Learning outcomes
- Students will understand the "whole project" context of the tools and techniques that they have learnt elsewhere in the programme and understand when to apply these techniques and the kind of results that they can expect;
- Students will be familiar with the techniques of stakeholder relationship management and related "soft" project management skills and will have experience of using these to facilitate project delivery;
- Students will be aware of "whole project" level issues (such as project performance and project governance) and the impact that these have on project delivery.
Syllabus
Project management basics reconciliation; applying PM tools and techniques; stakeholder relationship management; project governance; project success and failure; the reality of project management.
