Objectives
On completion of this module, student should be able to…- To present the overall objectives of a water supply system;
- To introduce the key components of a water supply system;
- To demonstrate how to design a water supply system;
- To present approaches to the development and productive use of groundwater sources;
- To present approaches to the design of water supply systems including point sources and resources;
- To demonstrate the design of simple water supply systems.
Learning outcomes
Students will know:
- What the key issues are in a water supply system;
- What the components of a supply system are;
- How to design and maintain a water supply system, based on both groundwater and surface water sources.
Syllabus
- Design of water systems;
- Groundwater assessments and principles of hydrogeology;
- Surface water development;
- Selection and design of appropriate lifting equipment;
- Point source development;
- Design of basic water treatment.
