Objectives
The purpose of this module is to introduce students to the basic principles of fashion marketing with a sound understanding of how the fashion industry operates and how consumers are a part of the fashion systemLearning outcomes
On completion of this module the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the marketing principles with particular emphasis on the marketing mix
- Describe manufacturing processes and supply chain structures
- Produce a customer profile for a fashion related business concept
- Provide an understanding of design (fibres / materials and styling) and pricing strategies in relation to a range of target markets
Syllabus
This module aims to ensure students develop a sound understanding of the fashion industry through an overview and evaluation of the fashion marketplace and fashion production processes including product development, materials and components, manufacturing processes and supply chains. The principles of marketing will be fully understood at a basic level using marketing mix theories with an introduction to market and marketing research practices. Students will develop a good understanding of the consumers role in the fashion system through target marketing and segmentation theories and practice. Students will be introduced to consumer behaviour theories and will implement at least one customer profile for a target market. Students will develop a firm understanding of how the totality of product design and pricing strategies differ for different fashion markets. (Weekly delivery plan attached)
