Syllabus

This module builds on the opportunities provided in Semester 1 for the effective and appropriate handling of various art media, either singly or in combination, in the realisation of students developing art interests. Through self-directed studio work and tutorial guidance, students produce a consolidated body of work.

Emphasis is on professional practice and students are encouraged to situate their practice and reflect upon its context and scope with this in mind. All students deliver a 10-15 minute presentation about their studio practice to their peers, which is followed by a short question and answer session.

The module is assessed via a portfolio of original work, the scope and format of which will be discussed, and a reference and analysis file kept throughout the semester, containing visual research, reading, work log, archived course work, reference and source material. This includes examples of researched studio work, 1,000 words of critical text and 250-300 word statement particular to personal practice.
