Module summary
This is the first of two separate courses in Child Centred Dentistry which will focus on the management, diagnosis and treatment of the child patient. In each of the subsequent courses the academic knowledge will build on that attained in the previous course. In CCD1, the student will gain knowledge on the general developmental aspects of the child, both physiological and psychological, and, more specifically, the development of the craniofacial complex and the dentition. Behaviour management is emphasised to enable future provision of high quality care to all individuals, as is good communication with both the patient and the parents.Training in diagnosing common oral health problems and formulating simple treatment plans form an important part of the clinical teaching as does the ability to instigate appropriate preventive measures and perform simple restorative procedures. Objectives
