Syllabus
This culmination of undergraduate clinical practice and outreach is concerned with the development of the individual, independent, reflective practitioner who is capable of unsupervised, holistic dental practice in the primary dental care setting.
- Clinical experience during year 5 will afford opportunities for integrated care, as well as specialist input (e.g. in oral medicine and oral pathology).
- As in year 4, some of the clinical experience will be gained off-site in purpose-built clinical facilities and practices.
- It is expected that development of the complex skills required of the graduate will be achieved with less direct intervention by supervisory staff and with the student taking progressively more responsibility for decisions and action.
- Competence must be demonstrated in all prescribed areas before graduation (and subsequent registration with the General Dental Council).
-Practical experience of providing stabilisation splint
- Expected to have gained experience of consultant clinics
- Undertake Medical Emergencies training
