Students should acquire factual knowledge of the Asia Pacific region, develop skills in collation and analysis of data, writing and presentation; and examine international relations and economic development.Students will gain an understanding of the political dynamics of the Asia Pacific region.Objectives

Learning outcomes
By the end of the module students will have developed knowledge and understanding of the nature of international politics in the Asia Pacific, and the conceptual and theoretical issues relating to those politics.
They will gained skills in analysis of contemporary political events and developments and appraisal of concepts, theories, propositions and arguments in the field of International Relations.
Students gain an understanding of the political dynamics of the Asia-Pacific region, acquire knowledge of the Asia Pacific Region, and examine the international relation of the region, with particular reference to the role of the USA, China, Japan and Southeast Asia and Europe.

- Focus on international relations, politics, government and security.
- Superpowers in Asia: China, Japan and the USA.
- Economic power: investment in Asia from Japan and other countries.
- New regionalism: APEC and AFTA.
- Asia Pacific in the world.
