Objectives

The aim of the module is to provide students with an understanding of how businesses are responding to the contemporary ethical issues being faced

Learning outcomes
Knowledge of:
- Corporate responsibility and citizenship
- Normative ethical theories
- Descriptive ethical issues
- Tools and techniques of Business Ethics management

Skills outcomes
Ability to :
1.To assess the ethical issues faced be specific organisations
2. To use tools and techniques to assess the effectiveness of an organisation’s social responsibility policy

Consideration of theory and practice in relation to:
- Ethical theory, moral philosophy and alternative perspectives
- Contemporary ethical issues in business
- Ethical decision making
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
- Ethics in the work place
- Ethics in a financial context - Corporate governance
- Ethics in marketing and consumer rights
- Business ethics management – implications on performance
- Government, regulation and business ethics
- Ethics in a global context
