Module summary
Are you interested in working with learners? Do you have some experience in this area (this could be in variety of contexts: schools, nurseries, after-school clubs, play schemes, Brownies, swimming or other children’s clubs, libraries, museums etc)? If so, this module could be for you. The module aims to promote understanding of how specific approaches can enable learning, and to develop the key skills required for effective teaching, with an opportunity to practise these in a micro-teaching session.Objectives
- To develop an understanding of how people learn- To develop a range of strategies for managing people in a learning environment
- To identify the skills needed for the planning & effective delivery of a teaching session
- To evaluate & reflect upon personal teaching style

- Key concepts such as teaching skills, lesson planning and classroom management will be introduced in lectures.- Seminars will be used to apply theory to practice.
Opportunities for Formative Feedback
