Module summary
During this module you will learn about entrepreneurship in the creative and cultural industries and how these kinds of organisations and people are challenging the way in which the industries are run.Working in groups and individually, you will have the opportunity to explore what these industries are all about, from definitions of cultural/creative entrepreneurship to contemporary issues such as ethics, design-thinking and public consideration in creative projects. Through the interactive workshops you will develop your understanding of these concepts, whilst building enterprising skills needed when working in these industries such as: flexibility, project management, team work and building commercial awareness.Objectives
The aim of this module is for students to develop an understanding of the national and international creative & cultural industries environment, along with different perspectives on how entrepreneurship functions within those environments. The module will also consider the role and leadership qualities of entrepreneurs in developing creative/cultural businesses and the cultural & ethical issues involved in developing creative and cultural industry businesses and teams.Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students will be able to:
- Analyse the creative & cultural sectors nationally and internationally, recognising how they are fluid & changing
- Understand opportunity recognition and the entrepreneurial processes
- Recognise the relationship of entrepreneurial change and key stakeholders in the industries
