Module summary

This module aims to enable studetns to apply a multidisciplinary approach to the exploration of how managers utilise information and communications technologies to enhance the performance of their organisations. It draws on a variety of disciplines (including information systems, strategy, marketing, operations and human resources management).

Objectives

This module aims to enable students to apply a multidisciplinary approach to the exploration of how managers utilise digital information and communications technologies to enhance the performance and innovation of their organisations. This module will provide students with a broad overview of the evolving digital landscape, enable them to critically evaluate digitisation opportunities and challenges within different types of organisation, as well as how to strategically manage these. Through this understanding, students will learn tools and techniques for managing change and development in the digital business, and critically analyse the consequences that digitisation may have on the workforce and the wider society.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- Apply knowledge of the core concepts of digital electronic business in differing contexts
- Evaluate the importance of digital electronic business for individuals, organisations and society
- Critically analyse the likely implications of digital electronic business for different business sectors
- Critically evaluate barriers to the growth of digital electronic business
- Apply knowledge of how to exploit digital electronic business in a chosen organisation or business sector.

Emerging technologies such as cloud computing, social media, mobile technologies and platforms, big data, Internet of Things, AI etc.
Developing and implementing digital technologies
