Module summary
The precise nature of compositional study in this module is decided in consultation with the module tutor, and is taught tutorially. This module may allow for students to explore and develop more commercially applicable work; thus arrangements/orchestrations for standard ensemble forces may be included. Students may wish to take the opportunity to specialise in a specific area of interest (in choral or brass ensemble music, for example). However, most successful folios will consist of titles drawn from different artistic and commercial sources. A folio will typically consist of two items. The second component is a two-week take-away paper which takes the form of several possible commission requests, one of which the student must choose.Pre-requisite: normally first degree in music; demonstrable knowledge of music and musical terminology, and experience of composition and compositional techniques. Objectives
