Module summary

The module is designed to provide students with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of a topic (or topics) of their choosing, subject to the approval of the School and to the availability of one or more appropriately qualified supervisors. The form of the assessment will normally be a long essay but may be negotiated with the student.

Objectives

To encourage students, individually or collectively, to design and undertake a programme of learning and assessment in Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies, or History of Science.

Learning outcomes
- Knowledge and understanding of the topics in Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies, or History of Science that are studied in the module;
- Appropriate skills of independent research;
- Appropriate skills of working with a supervisor.


Syllabus

To be negotiated with the student. If solely by written work, then this must total 10,000 words. Assessment may however include examination, joint presentation, etc.
