Module summary
This module enables students with a GCSE in Spanish or similar level of linguistic competence in Spanish to further develop their language skills and to complete the level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).Language Learning in this module is student-centred and task-based. The classroom is conceived as a social space for communication. Both written and oral tasks will be set.Objectives
At the end of this module students will be able to:- understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment);
- communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters;
- describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
Learning outcomes
- Basic uses of the preterite, perfect and imperfect tenses, the passive voice, relative clauses and ser and estar at an elementary level;
- Understanding of some relevant current affairs and life in Spain and Latin America explored in the course of the language learning-tasks;
- A vocabulary around the topics and areas covered.
Syllabus
The module will follow the textbook Aula 2 Internacional (Barcelona: Difusión).
Texts used and vocabulary introduced in class will cover a wide range of thematic areas relating to current affairs and life in Spain and Latin America.
