Objectives

This module aims to help students develop the skills required to analyse and explain the core concepts of international business strategy, the constraints upon it, its uncertainties and the potential for international expansion. The module also analyses how international knowledge-transfer and innovation strategies enable multinational enterprises to enhance their competitiveness and performance in the global economy.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will be able to critically evaluate:
- The constraints and opportunities of internationalisation of markets, production and innovation
- International expansion and market entry strategies, preferable in enhancing firm competitiveness
- The multifaceted benefits and problems arising from globalization

Skills outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will be able to:
- Articulate in writing, complex business ideas
- Conduct evaluations on the business potential of foreign market entry
- Develop strategic plans that may enable a multinational corporation to expand in new markets or countries

20 hours - Pre-workshop reading and preparation to include case study reading and preparation

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Student will receive feedback on their contribution to case study analysis and presentation during the workshop. Model answers and verbal feedback will be given after the case study work to provide confirmation to students of their levels of understanding and progress.

Outside of the workshops, students will be given the opportunity for feedback via telephone and/or email discussions with the LUBS tutor. This will enable them to further monitor their progress.
