Objectives

This module aims to provide students with an understanding of the main principles and developments in human resource management (HRM) in the international context, specifically exploring the development of HRM, the introduction of strategy into the nexus of HRM, HRM in a global context and the consequences of this for employers and employees in international organisations.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- Describe and explain the context and core components of HRM and their relationship and application in the international environment
- Explain the development of HRM in a global context, and the past, present and future of work
- Identify the diverse range of issues that emerge within HRM, and the varied patterns of people management that currently exist
- Strategically analyze developments and practices in international organisations and the practical significance of these for employers and employees

Upon completion of this module students will be able to:

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

During the workshops students will receive feedback on their contribution to case study exercises and presentations. Model answers are issued for most exercises to provide additional confirmation to students of their progress.

Outside of the workshops, students will be given the opportunity for feedback via telephone, email or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) discussions with the LUBS tutor. This will enable them to further monitor their progress.
