Objectives
The module aims to provide students with an introduction to and perspective on the conceptual and empirical evidence base, the broad-level issues, and the current debates within the field of Strategic Human Resource Management (HRM) with a focus on their practical consequences. The goal is for this knowledge and insight to facilitate the effective incorporation of consequential human resource considerations within broader organizational analysis and decision-making.Learning outcomes
On completion of this module students will be able to:
- Recognise, explain and critically evaluate the conceptual and empirical evidence for HRM’s impact on organisational performance
- Identify and critically evaluate the implications of the changing context of contemporary organisations for HR strategy, goals and practices
- Identify and critically evaluate the issues involved in HR strategy definition and implementation, including the relative role of HR specialists and line managers

Upon completion of this module students will be able to:

- Conduct a critical, evidence-based analysis of the current HR strategy and practices in place in a specific work organisation to identify new or revised approaches and priorities for change
