Objectives
This module aims to give the students a professional design work ethic. Students will select 2 projects (from 4) that relate to their potential/future aspirations within a creative sector. The project will be set and presented by the design industryLearning outcomes
On completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate an in depth understanding of the design process within a professional environment
- Generate creative ideas bsed on in-depth research and understanding;
- Evaluate and experiment with creative ideas
- Create professional visual communications
- Work within professional limitations
Skills outcomes
This module will be made up of lectures, seminars and
computer cluster session.
Lectures will introduce students to the standards
required in the different design sectors.
Seminars will develop further students critical analysis
skills.
Cluster sessions will develop each students design
production skills. Students will be working on the design
solutions (as they would in an agency) while the staff
monitor their progress.
Syllabus
The module will cover the following topics in the context of industry professionalism
- visual language
- creating effective and professional communication
- generating and evaluating creative ideas
- understanding target markets
- relevant conceptual thinking
