Syllabus

This practically-based module runs across Semesters 1 and 2. Semester 1 will consist of independent research into visual communications and contemporary moving image facilitated through seminars and workshops; development from this research will culminate in the presentation of a design proposal. In Semesters 1 and 2, self-directed experimentation with advanced special effects and animation software and techniques will give you the necessary grounding to implement your proposal in Semester 2. You will be expected to plan your production and post-production work and implement this to achieve a professional design solution.

You must have previous experience of moving image/motion graphics software and techniques to take this module.

Students at this level should be able to generate multiple creative concepts and evaluate their findings and make appropriate decisions. They should also be able to objectively review and negotiate project proposals in order to identify the most appropriate and effective solution to the communication problem and evaluate the validity and appropriateness of feedback to develop their proposal accordingly.

Students at this level should be encouraged to undertake and manage private study time in preparation for either further study or a career in their chosen industry.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Student progress is monitored through the seminar sessions where students present creative proposals to their tutor and peer group. Weekly feedback and advice is given in order to assist the student in achieving their creative objectives.
