Objectives

On completion of this module, students should be able to:

1. design a comprehensive, structured training programme for the work-based setting informed by the requirements of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) pre-registration syllabus.
2. identify and critically evaluate teaching strategies to meet the learning requirements of groups and individual pre-registration pharmacy trainees.
3. reflect on the role of the tutor/trainer to inform and develop training programmes and student support strategies.

Learning outcomes
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the pre-registration trainee pharmacist programme requirements in order to support them with their training.
- Knowledge of effective strategies to plan and deliver teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of the design of clear aims and learning outcomes in relation to learning and teaching.
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of developing learning contracts with students.
- Knowledge of programme design and development.
- Knowledge of the quality assure indicators which need to be considered when evaluating training programmes.
- Knowledge of learning theories through critically evaluation of the educational literature.
- Knowledge of strategies to support learning from reflection.

- Design aims and objectives at the correct level and depth required
- Learning theories and learning styles
- Learning contracts
- Course design

- Teaching strategies

> communication skills teaching
