Objectives
The module is an introduction to the study of core psychological theories informing psychotherapeutic counselling practice.Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate an in depth critical awareness of psychoanalytic and psychotherapeutic counselling theories in the therapeutic relationship.
2. Demonstrate in depth critical insight into intersubjective phenomena with reference to the therapeutic frame.
3. Demonstrate in depth critical awareness of models of therapeutic change.
Skills outcomes
Students will begin to experience how theoretical ideas and concepts in the fields of psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, and counselling might be processed into psychotherapeutic counselling practice. Key aspects of learning will be on the nature of the therapeutic relationship and its centrality within Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
