Module summary
Professional Portfolio Management is an applied module showing students how financial theory developed in levels one and two can be applied to portfolio management using Bloomberg Professional Service. Students will work in groups to develop an investment strategy and manage a notional portfolio according to their investment strategy.Objectives
This module aims to provide students with an advanced understanding of how financial and investment theory is applied in practice using the Bloomberg Professional Service Platform.Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- Explain how the essential principles of advanced finance and investment are applied in practice
- Critically appraise the application of theoretical investment models in the context of professional portfolio management

Private study
The main focus of the module is to give students the opportunity to experience practical application of financial theory using the Bloomberg Professional Service Platform in a dedicated Bloomberg Trading Room. Students will be introduced to Bloomberg Professional Service in the lectures and practical sessions and then will work together in groups to manage a portfolio using an agreed investment strategy they have derived.Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Students will be able to receive formative feedback on their work in the practical class sessions. In addition, students will have the opportunity to discuss progress on their group assignment at regular intervals as the work progresses.Methods of assessment
