Module summary
The module will present you with a range of current business-related issues and problems in the area of innovation and technology with a particular focus on issues and problems which are relatively unstructured and where there is no "one right answer". As part of developing more integrated ways of approaching and understanding problems, you are expected to draw upon skills and knowledge you have developed in your degree course so far, gaining more expertise in analysing and solving problems that require a range of understanding perspectives and insights.Objectives
This module aims to further develop knowledge and expertise in managing innovation and technology. It provides a medium for solving contemporary innovation and technology problems, in a student-centred and student-led discussion environment of current research topics on innovation and technology management. Key learning is developed during the workshops to apply related theories, tools and models for assessing various innovation and technology developments, including products, processes and approaches.Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students will be able to:
- Interpret and evaluate real-world decision making where choices are uncertain and preferences are not clearly ordered
- Assess both the theoretical and practical issues associated with managing innovation and technology

The nature of the innovation process, including adoption, implementation and diffusion.
Innovation and technology strategy.
Innovation and technology in networks and communities.
The management of innovation and technology in its many forms, including a variety of sectorial perspectives.
Innovation and technology in operations, processes and systems.
Building effective implementation mechanisms for managing innovation and technology.
Assessing and improving the management of innovation and technology.
Internationalization of technology and New Product Development and the infusion of sustainability/environment in innovative developments.
Future challenges in innovation and technology.

Private study
A good proportion of the private study will focus on searching academic databases gathering and reviewing relevant papers for discussion in the workshop. It also includes the elaboration of written work and preparation of presentations that will be giving during the workshops.Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Tasks will be set fortnightly to students as to answer a short question or investigate a particular topic in their own time and report back to the tutor for provision of formative feedback.Methods of assessment
