Objectives

On completion of this module students will be able to:

- undertake a focussed professional consultancy project
- develop a corrective action plan/work plan/feedback for the client
- consolidate and apply their understanding of billing, time management, marketing and business development in a professional environmental consultancy context
- apply specialist knowledge to client problems
- synthesise and summarise information critically and cogently
- recognise any moral and ethical issues relevant to their work
- communicate their finds effectively in oral and written form, acceptable both to an academic and an industrial audience.

In addition students will have developed a professional level of skill in self-management (working independently, time management and organisational skills), in working towards targets, in professional liaison, and in adopting a flexible approach to study and work.

Syllabus

- Individual sustainability consultancy project in a business or industry context.
- Topic scoping; contract negotiation; evidence collation; analysis; findings; evaluation; recommendations; presentation.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

- Via advisory sessions with project supervisor, including formal check on milestones (topic formulation and initial evidence collation), and general advice on draft extracts.
- To include review of 1 scoping report and 1 interim report.

All individual elements must be passed to pass the whole module.
