On completion of this module, students should have provided evidence of being able to:
- rationalise the importance of research methodology, creativity and individual expression within technical and commercial parameters;
- explore and develop technical skills in structured pattern cutting or knitted fabric structure and application;
- produce original garment samples in weave or knit that are well-conceived, executed and presented, fulfilling the requirements of a given brief;
- demonstrate a sound understanding of how structured or knitted garments are manufactured commercially;
- rationalise efficient time management skills, and work effectively both individually and as a team member;
- demonstrate effective communication skills.

Syllabus
TThis module will consolidate working methods acquired previously in Level 1and will continue to be delivered through lectures, seminars, demonstrations and workshops. It aims to develop and expand upon practical skills and will focus on structured pattern making or knitted fabric, woven or knitted garment construction, manufacturing methodology and terminology all within industrial standards. This will be underpinned by personal research, which will relate to the product development process.
Research and analysis of shape, styles and structures leads students onto the compilation of files that record this information, plus two technical files of approximately 2500 words each including, details, reference sources and commercial processes, together with an inventory of work produced.
