Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to:1. Maintain and evaluate a Personal Development portfolio
2. Complete EU regulations
3. Demonstrate responsibility and accountable practice by achieving the proficiencies and skills stated in the Assessment in Practice and Skills Workbook documents
4. Consider & analyse legal and professional frameworks pertinent to practice
5. Develop an awareness of the political and economic changes, which have potential to influence health care delivery
6. Understand the need for and principles of ensuring a quality service for the child and family
7. Reflect upon and justify personal practice
8. Develop personal skills in relation to working with a team
9. Act as a mentor to more junior students
10. Teach skills to others such as junior nurses and children and their families as appropriate (with indirect supervision)

Syllabus
The aim of this module is to enable students to demonstrate competencies based upon predetermined Final Year child branch specific proficiencies and Skills Workbook. Students will be expected to utilize opportunities to learn from mentors and peers in the work environment and begin the process of making judgments in practice under supervision, while continuing to developing an understanding of the evidence that underpins practice and its application. Students will be expected to identify personal learning and skill development needs within the Assessment in Practice & Skills Workbook documents in order for to be able to care for the child and family effectively. Students will also maintain an individual Personal Development Profile where they will complete the EU regulations and reflect on experiences and identify links between theory & practice.
