Module summary

This module is aimed at you if you are a student interested in understanding how creativity, innovation, visual culture contributes to society and organisations.

Objectives

The aim of this module is to enable students to gain an understanding of the role of creativity, innovation, advertising and visual culture in society and in organisations. This will build on the level one module, Business Acumen, Enterprise and The Changing World of Work, by exploring the role of visual culture in business and marketing contexts.

Students will also develop the ability to relate theoretical issues to everyday life and to their own professional futures.

Learning outcomes
At the end of this module students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:
- the role of creativity and innovation in relation to the community and the workplace
- visual culture and its contribution to society
- how creative and innovative solutions can be developed to solve organisational problems and challenges
- how to reflect on their own personal and professional development

Syllabus

The module will cover:

Creativity and innovation
The impact of design on the modern world
Design and branding
The role of visual culture in society and in organisations
Advertising and marketing
Ethical issues

The module will use case studies and specific examples to illustrate creativity and innovation in society and the workplace.
