Objectives

The actual experience of the year abroad will vary widely from one student to another, dependent on the University attended and the individual host city and country.

Skills outcomes
- Qualities and transferable skills necessary for working in another academic system and living in another country.
- Enhanced practical language skills, both written and oral, in some cases in a language other than English, as required by demands of study in another country.

Syllabus

This will be arranged on an individual basis, in consultation with the host institution. It will normally comprise a combination of taught courses in Philosophy (and or History & Philosophy of Science as appropriate) related studies and, in the case of European placements, language training if required. Where teaching is in English, students will be expected to study the same number of courses as the students at the host institution.

A Learning Agreement, outlining the level of study and the number of credits required, will be completed with the student and the Study Abroad coordinator prior to departure.
