Private study
Independent learning will happen through the placement or project work. The student will spend 30 hours (minimum) on placement or on a specific assigned project. Alongside the placement, in terms of private study, students will produce a 'reflective placement report' which will be submitted for their assessment. The reflective report will include mapping work, to visualize how their role relates to organizations as well as the identification of key policy drivers for their role and the project in which they are placed. It will also include a personal and professional development plan.Reading and/or professional development tasks will also be undertaken in advance of each taught session.
Opportunities for Formative Feedback
The monitoring of student progress will be done in a number of ways. The first is via the seminars where any emerging issues can be identified.
The second is via a mid-point one to one tutorial.
The third is via their placement report, progress of which will be reviewed in the tutorial.
The module lecture and seminars are designed to consistently build the knowledge and skills necessary for the formal assignment. There are opportunities to present on all key aspects of the assignment through a workshop structure. There will be specifically designed formative workshops – via student presentations – to help students prepare for the assessments. There is also a personal tutorial to give tailored one to one support on both personal and professional development plans and module assessment.
