Objectives

At the end of the module, students will understand the unique engineering challenges that face the UK nuclear industry and be able to provide an engineered solution, communicate aspects of the nuclear industry to non-experts and argue a case.

Learning outcomes
This module covers a number of skills across a wide subject base. Learning outcomes are summarised as:
- Gain an understanding of nuclear engineering and how this relates to conventional chemical engineering;
- Gain an understanding of the types of engineering challenge that faces the UK nuclear industry;
- Demonstrate the ability to understand the technical background of a UK nuclear topic and be able to persuade an audience over to your view point on that topic;
- Demonstrate the ability to understand the technical background of a UK nuclear topic and communicate the important points to a non-expert audience.

Skills outcomes
- Knowledge obtained of nuclear engineering principles and the broader nuclear industry;
- Ability to create engineering solutions to solve nuclear issues;
- Communication and presentation skills.
