Module summary
This module builds on undergraduate knowledge of radiography/radiology but expands on the knowledge of techniques available and improves the diagnostic ability.Objectives
1. To deliver a basis of education that complies with IRMER regulations. This will allow the dental practitioner to comply with GDC recommendations. Included in this will be physics, dose reduction, biological effects, doses and risks selection criteria and quality assurance.2. To identify and explore all the different imaging modalities available in general dental practice, including plain films, digital and cone beam technology.
3. To build on previous knowledge of the appearances of dental pathology and extend the diagnostics skills and knowledge of more advanced imaging techniques.
Learning outcomes
To be able to confidently diagnose the common dental/oral pathologies on plain films and one other imaging modalities and to be able to give a differential diagnosis of the more unusual pathologies.

6. Digital/cone beam CT

8. TM joint imaging
9. Radiolucencies
10. Radiodensities/mixed density lesions.

1. Cross sectional imaging
2. Caries and periodontal disease diagnosis
