Objectives
On completion of this module students will be able to:i) locate and organise the primary and secondary materials of research in the history of science, medicine and technology.
ii) assess the strengths and weaknesses of scholarly interpretations in relevant secondary literature.
iii) creatively and critically interpret primary evidence, of both textual and material varieties.
iv) organise their interpretations of evidence into a coherent historical exposition.
Syllabus
This module provides training, by means of practical exercises, in such historical skills as designing a research project, locating and exploiting resources, critically analyzing written and printed primary sources, interpreting material objects, conducting interviews, organizing disparate materials, and constructing a historical narrative.
