Module summary

This model introduces students to Operations and Supply Chain Management, which is vital to an organisation’s competitiveness. The module provides a general overview of the key issues in managing operations and supply chains that are related to strategy, design, planning & control and improvement.

Objectives

The module aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills of managing operations and supply chains. Students will be exposed to the fundamental principles, theories and practical activities that constitute this vital area of management. This module will better prepare students for future career with a grounded understanding of business operations.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the nature and significance of operations and supply chain management for various types of organisation.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the main concepts and theories in managing operations and supply chains.
- Apply concepts and theories to analyse and resolve operations and supply chain-related problems and issues.

Upon completion of this module students will be able to:

Private study

This could include a variety of activities, such as reading, watching videos, question practice and exam preparation.

Students are expected to spend their private study undertaking activities such as preparing for lectures and preparing for assessment. This will include activities such as completing assigned reading including textbooks, case studies, and other material available on-line.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Your teaching methods could include a variety of delivery models, such as face-to-face teaching, live webinars, discussion boards and other interactive activities. There will be opportunities for formative feedback throughout the module.

Students will undertake case studies and problem-solving activities in workshops or lectures and then self-monitor their progress against class discussion and tutor-provided solutions.
