Objectives
Students will:- Experience different types of learning and teaching delivered to undergraduate and postgraduate doctors.
- Practice and develop their teaching skills through regular delivery (or assisting delivery) of a variety of teaching sessions to a range of health professions and levels of experience.
- Learn about the admissions process and take part in the assessment of applicants
- Gain an understanding of clinical placement provision, evaluation and improvement through observation and participation in placement meetings.
- Receive regular feedback on their performance and opportunities for group discussion of their placement experiences
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this module, students will be able to:
1. Plan teaching sessions from a session outline, choosing teaching methods appropriate to the group of learners, the subject material, the resources available and the learning outcomes.
2. Effectively teach and facilitate learning using a variety of teaching and learning methods
3. Contribute to the assessment of student work and give effective feedback
4. Monitor and evaluate own teaching using self, peer and student feedback
5. Critically evaluate and assess how learning theory can be applied to learning and teaching practice
6. Reflect on their own personal and professional practice and development
7. Appreciate the complexities of clinical placement provision and clinical teaching
8. Demonstrate an understanding of the MBChB admissions process and the underlying principles and theory

Syllabus
This module will run throughout the academic year
Students will receive teaching and then gain experience in:
• Facilitating teaching of FMH students
• Assessment of students and/or applicants in Multiple Mini Interviews
• Critical reflection
Students will also have the opportunity to attend educational meetings and seminars organised by LIME.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Each student will have 3 scheduled 1 hour sessions with an educational supervisor to help them use their portfolio data to provide feedback, reassurance and direct future learning and practice. Students will receive regular feedback from their placement supervisors on their performance and development. Due to the small class size and interactive teaching methods, we will be able to monitor students’ progress in the taught sessions and students will receive personalised feedback whenever possible.Methods of assessment

Any student failing the placement assessment will be able to resit with the submission of a 1500 word essay the topic of which will be decided on an individual basis dependent on the reason for failure.
