Objectives

Learning outcomes
On completion of the module students will be able to;
- Apply and develop knowledge and skills gained from previous levels;
- Define the consequence of investigative self led learning;
- Researched into a topic raised through the programme in one module area, or into an issue that is related to more than one module;
- Worked independently and/or through collaboration to design and execute a piece of research in the area of sport and exercise science;
- Written a report on a piece of research in the area of sport and/or exercise science in the format of a journal article.

Syllabus

- Students will select/develop a working research project in consultation with staff. The title will then be approved by the supervisor and module manager.
- The supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the work in an advisory capacity, but the students will be expected to plan execute and interpret their own work.
- Projects may be individual or group, insofar as the collection of data may be collaborative, but individual students will use the data to address differing project titles.

Private study

Private study will include planning and implementation, analysis, and report writing up to 80 hours.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Students' progress will be monitored by the individual supervisors.

The title must be agreed by the end of week 3, semester 1. The supervisor will use the log book as a means of monitoring student progress.
