Objectives
The aim of this module is to examine theories of change and development as they apply to organisations, groups and individuals. It examines different theoretical perspectives and approaches that can be applied to the diagnosis and solving of problems in organisations.Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to critically assess:
- major concepts, theories, frameworks and tools for analysing the need for change and designing interventions
- potential negative human costs of change and ways in which to minimise these costs
- methodological issues, concepts and theories about stability in organisations
Skills outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
Subject specific skills
- evaluate and debate theories and received opinion on organisational development and change
- apply theories, concepts and frameworks to diagnose the need for change and design interventions that will move organisations to a more effective state
- formulate communications regarding change in language that will be accessible to those involved in the change process
Transferable skills
- synthesise ideas and develop models to facilitate understanding, planning and action
Syllabus
The module covers core topics within the discipline of change management, including: organizational change process; leadership and organizational change; teams and organizational change; employees reactions to organizational change; employee-led change
