Objectives

By the end of this module students should have a basic understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the main body systems.

Learning outcomes
By the end of this module students will be able to;
- understand and be able to define the structure and function of key body organ systems;
- explain how they interact at a basic level.

Syllabus

Structure of the human body. Main functions and characteristics of the main body systems. Basic biochemistry and molecular biology.

Private study

This course will make use of online learning resources included within the interactive physiology package available through blackboard and physio-ex, a similar package. Students will work through relevant example exercises on the theme of each of the lectures given encouraging them to develop their knowledge of the topics.
Private study period is required to revise the lecture material and perform the data analysis and calculations that will be associated with the online learning tasks detailed on a provided worksheet they complete.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Weekly online tests will ensure progress through the module. Module managers and subject lecturers will be notified of those failing assessments so support can be provided. Conditional release of material based on completion of each week's test will ensure involvement.
