Objectives
This module builds on the fundamental concepts identified in the level 1 introduction to biomechanics.Learning outcomes
On completion of the module students will be able to;
- describe human motion clearly and unambiguously using both scalar and vector measures;
- demonstrate an understanding of the relationships between linear and angular motion;
- demonstrate an understanding of Newton's laws of motion and their angular equivalents and their implications for human motion;
- demonstrate an understanding of the concepts of force, and moments of force and their implications for affecting human motion;
- demonstrate an understanding of lab based kinetic and kinematic data collection techniques.
- demonstrate an understanding of the concepts of inertia, momentum, impulse and conservation of momentum and their influence on human motion.
- demonstrate an understanding of mechanical work, power and energy and their implications for sport and exercise;
- Demonstrate data manipulation and presentation;
- Demonstarte the use of IT and in particular Microsoft Excel.
Skills outcomes
- Attain an understanding of lab based kinetic and kinematic data collection techniques.

- distance, speed, displacement, velocity, acceleration
Linear kinematics
Angular kinematics
Newton's three laws of motion and their angular equivalents
Factors affecting human motion
- Force concepts

- Intertia
- Momentum and conservation of momentum
- Impulse.
