Module summary
This module will build on trainee clinical experience accumulated to date on the use of self and the application of theoretical knowledge in the therapeutic relationship. Experiential activities and group and individual supervision will enhance and continue to develop reflexive awareness in professional counselling practice. Personal awareness development will be facilitated by group learning.Objectives
To develop self awareness and critical insights into personal issues, the group intersubjective experience and psychotherapeutic counselling interactions.Learning outcomes
1) Demonstrate a facilitative relationship with clients
2) Demonstrate self and intersubjective awareness (critical self-reflection) in counselling relationships in supervision and in session, and tying understanding to theory
3) Demonstrate critical reflection on self and in relation to others in personal development group, supervision and in personal therapy
4) Critically reflect on use of personal development group
Skills outcomes
Students will be expected to demonstrate critical reflexivity in personal awareness development and gain insights into group supervision of psychotherapeutic counselling.
