The aims of the module are to:

Develop an understanding of research methodologies and the key aspects of the research process within a business studies context

Develop critical analysis skills

Learning outcomes
Knowledge of :

The different debates and issues underlying the research process
The different assumptions underlying research and the nature and status of research methodology
The research process and the different issues to consider when performing a literature review, conducting empirical research and presenting research findings
The ethical implications of research within a business studies context

Skills outcomes
Ability to :

Critically analyse existing literature


Consideration of theory and practice in relation to :
The philosophy of research and research paradigms
Conducting an appropriate literature review
The design and justification of research methodologies
The formulation of research objectives, questions and hypotheses
Ethical issues in business and management research
