Module summary

This module will provide you with a foundation in the theory and practice of HRM allowing you to engage critically with developments in the world of work. It begins with an exploration of HRM and of the various theoretical perspectives for examining work before exploring key topics.Through the exploration of these subjects the module will also develop academic skills addressing areas such as academic and reflective writing, referencing and research, as well as developing professional and digital skills appropriate to working and learning environments.

Objectives

The aims of the module are to provide students with the opportunity to:
Examine HRM policies and practice and apply theory to practice
Evaluate the impact of strategic HRM in an organisational context

Learning outcomes
On completion of the module you will be able to:
-Explain the nature of human resource management
- Evaluate human resource management tools and techniques
-Examine the changing nature of work and the contemporary employment relationship.

Skills outcomes
As part of this module students will develop a range of digital literacy skills. Further details are provided in the module handbook
