Module summary

The purpose of this module is to introduce you to topics of business innovation and enterprise from a strategic perspective. The module develops the skills and knowledge that are needed to apply innovative and creative problem solving and strategic management skills within an organisational context.Discussion, debate and participation are encouraged throughout and form an essential part of this unit, drawing on experiences of the group, discussion of first hand and personal examples is actively encouraged.

Objectives

The objectives of this module are:
-Develop creative and innovative solutions to organisational problems and challenges fostered by a business strategy and generated by market requirements
-Develop an understanding of the processes involved in creating and launching a new product as part of business strategic position and future direction

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- analyse the role of creativity and innovation within organisations and within a business strategic position
- apply the tools and techniques of creative and innovative management
- assess the ways to overcome barriers to creativity
- evaluate the processes involved in creating and launching a new product as part of an overall business strategy

Skills outcomes
Ability to:
- Apply problem solving skills
- Present new business ideas
- Apply innovative and creative thinking within a business enterprise context
