Module summary

This module enables students who have completed an A1 CEFRL level to develop their language skills up to A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).Language Learning in this module is student-centred and task-based. The classroom is conceived as a social space for communication. Listening, reading, writing, speaking, interaction and mediation tasks will be set.

Objectives

To develop the students’ language skills and competence up to CEFRL A2 level/equivalent.
Teaching is divided into a series of units, developing various important skills, such as the ability to work in a team, to a deadline, and the ability to assimilate and organize language material and present it in a given register, style and context.
Students should also develop an awareness of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.


Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students should be able to
1. Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance
(e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
2. Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
3. Describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

• Describing feelings, your mood, health issues
• Narrating and linking past events and experiences
• Expressing likes and preferences
• Describing places and objects

• Location of objects
• Getting by in different situations such as invitations, introductions, greetings and farewells
• Asking for things, actions, favours
• Asking and giving permission
• Giving excuses, instructions, advice
• Speaking about leisure activities , timetables, intentions and projects
• Speaking about and valuing experiences, people and things
• Arguing and debating
• Expressing emotions
